Economist

Country risk and macroeconomic analysis

Efic is a specialist financier that delivers simple and creative solutions to Australian companies to enable them to win business, grow internationally and achieve export success. Our economics team assesses country risk for emerging and frontier markets, monitors Australia’s international business conditions, and provides commodity forecasts and industry risk assessments.

We are seeking an Economist to join our Sydney based economics team. Your strong understanding of the principles of economics, both micro and macro, will see you become an important member of deal teams working on complex transactions in challenging markets, and providing input to commercial decisions across the wider business. You will apply a variety of quantitative and qualitative analytical frameworks, models and techniques to analyse economic issues, provide forecasting, and produce effective reports and presentations.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • strong academic results in an economics degree, preferably with honours
  • 1 to 5 years’ experience as an economist working in one of the following fields: macroeconomics, public policy and/or econometrics
  • experience in economic analysis and forecasting, preferably in a global context
  • excellent writing and presentation skills
  • experience working with data providers such as Bloomberg, and statistical programs such as EViews, Stata or SAS, is desirable

We are looking for a team player with a passion for detailed analysis, who can thrive in a small team environment. The job has a strong focus on the international economy and emerging markets, so experience in open economy macroeconomics and emerging markets is desirable, but not essential.

Associate Director, SME, VIC

The Role

We are seeking an Associate Director, based in Melbourne, to work closely with our State Director to assist grow and develop our market share to SME exporters in Victoria and Tasmania.  You will proactively connect and network with local and federal government agencies, various business industry groups, banks, professional services firms and other alliance partners across both metropolitan and regional geographies throughout Victoria & Tasmania, to actively seek out opportunities to further develop and grow our business in this segment.

You will build Efic’s profile by representing the business at various industry events and undertake public speaking engagements across all alliance partner groups.  Utilising your significant business development and banking experience, you will identify, originate, negotiate, structure and execute transactions to support eligible SME exporters using a range of Efic’s products and services.  You will exceed your individual targets and contribute to the broader team targets and business objectives.

If you are a highly motivated business developer, experienced & qualified in Financial Services or a related field, and have at least 7 years’ experience, we welcome your application.  Critical success factors will require an energetic, driven, disciplined, outcome focussed and accomplished business developer with a strong client focus. You will need to be commercially and financially astute, and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
